Wiking’s Hanomag K55 crawler tractor 1/25 scale [#3 fuel tank] [video]

May 30, 2012

Here you have guys a few more steps of this tractor project. This time I’ll be adding more detail to the fuel tank and firewall.

After separating the fuel tank from the hood and the grill I started building the firewall first. As I could not find enough pictures of the Hanomag K55 firewall I created what i thought could be a firewall on this tractor.

Then I added a few details to the dashboard side of the fuel tank. A few moldings and the tank’s edge. It looks much better now.

I have no pics of the process, but recorded everything on the video. Enjoy!

I thought you guys might like to see this

> This is not CNC technology; this guy made everything at home on his lathe and drill press. Took 1220 hours (a year and a half?) to make the 261 pieces. Note the end-loaded crankshaft into the block (like an Offy), 12 individual cylinder heads, TINY rods and pistons, dual “underhead” cams with pushrods to rockers in the heads. And, he did break-in runs using an electric drill driving the crankshaft!

Hi Dana! Yes I know that project. It’s one of the most amazing scale models I’ve ever seen. An incredible job. Thanks for sharing, maybe it’s new to some of our readers.
