1965 Ford Galaxy 500

This model car is based on a kit from AMT, scale 1/25. I bought this kit as part of a lot on ebay – it was partially built, but not really clean. So I had to first unbuilt it and put it again together as a junk model car.

This car was built without the engine, that is why the front is lifted up. The front suspension lifts the front due to the missing engine weight. Furthermore, due to the missing engine block, you can see the open bell housing and the clutch, wich was scratch built. Note how the windshield has a crack – which could happen while trying to unmount the windshield to be used on another car.

The rear fender has some serious rusting – I love to see that rust! Due to the bump on the side, the door doesn’t really close anymore. I also added side windows, with the door window half closed and some weathering.

The car has no front seats and shows a nice rusted through floor. I painted the hood white to make it look as part of some other car.

We really love this picture. It makes the car look just great on the sunny salt desert. Here you can appreciate how the front is lifted due to the missing engine.

Keept it rusty!

Nice work on this one! Reminds me of my Dad’s old salvage yard, out in the desert. Your car looks lonely out there, though!

True, the car is pretty lonely. But there are more junk model cars where this came from, as you know :)

Hey Junkster,

the color is just some brown color I had – nothing special. That’s the cool thing about junk model cars, you can pick just any color!

Thanks for posting on our blog!!
