My brother came over to visit to work on Modeljunkyard. We have just finished our projects, mine was the Mustangs.
The idea behind this project was to build one brand new Mustang, one used (slightly weathered) and one junker (heavily weathered).
The first Mustang above is the junker (I guess you noticed). One special feature is the convertible roof structure, with no fabric on it. I scratch built it with styrene stripes.
The used Mustang has a road trip behind it, with a dirty windshield. The entire front is weathered too, as if the car had gotten into some rainy trip.
The brand new Mustang is, well “brand new” looking. No major things to mention here. I applied several paint coats on this one, sanding with 1000 / 1500 sanding papers, etc.
I tried some new things with the paint here. For instance, the cracked paint (I talked about it in this older post) was surely one thing. I also made the paint look a bit “whiter” on the top, as if was damaged by the sun. The entire car is weathered as if it had been collecting dust for a while now.
This Mustang convertible with the roof raillings is an amazing idea.
The other one with the top up is also very nice.
Thumb up!!!!
Gorgeous work Iggy! I love the convertible top bows.
Thx guys for the comments! I’m glad you like this project!
This is great. The details on the junker is fantastic.
A follow-up theme suggestion…how about a diorama of a mini-junkyard in which one car is being restored from parts of other similar makes in various states of disrepair?
Fenomenal work with the Mustangs!!
Its really a great lesson, you could make a book with this idea, including engine and lowers weathering. And maybe some variations for the used car, it can be like you made, a car that took some sun damage, or with mud, or wet, or maybe crashed.
Thank you for the feedback and for the idea. Yeas, we have lots of ideas for many books, and that’s a good one too. Thanks!
