Ford Granada, Taunus and Consul parts swap meet (Germany)

June 8, 2013

Last week, after the Kustom Kulture meeting, I had the opportunity to go to a Ford Granada parts swap meet. I was in search of a few parts and as I’m selling my 1980 Ford Granada MKII I thought this might be  a great place to offer my car.

During the swap meet great cars arrived, and others where already there owned by Uwe the organizer of this meeting. Uwe is the Granada King at Granada Heaven in Castrop, Germany. He owns around 20 cars, many of them very rare versions or in brand new condition.

Here you have many cars from the visitors, all from the Ford family: Taunus, Granada and Consul.

Hi Seb,

Thank you so much for sharing those with us, I love seeing the old Granada’s, I wish they would still build cars like that, ones that you could tell straight away what it is, instead of the jelly mould cars that are about now…

Back in 1990/91 I used to have a Gold MKl 2:0 V6 when I worked in Germany for a couple of years, absolutely loved her and never had any real problems or issues, plus, she was so comfortable on trips up and down the Autobahn, one car I would still love to own is a MKll Granada 2:8i Ghia X estate, I have loved that model ever since the first time I saw one…

Thank you again for sharing these with us…

Hi Andy,
I totally agree, cars nowadays look all the same. I never thought that car companies and designers would all merge their styles so far that from the distance you can not tell the difference between a BMW and a Toyota. It’s sad. Finally all the cars look the same, no brand character anymore with a few exceptions.

I also enjoy driving my Ford Granada a lot! It’s a very comfortable and reliable car (no electronics!). My Granada has also a very low milage and no rust. That makes the cars specially enjoyable. I got lots of positive feedback from the other Granada fans at the meeting.

Cheers!
Seb

Just love the little hugger orange ford w/ black roof. What model/year
is it? Can that be found in 1/25 scale? Would like to know.
Keep up the great e-mag,
Mark

Hi Mark, that’s a ’69 Ford Taunus. As far as I know there is no 1/25 scale model of that car. :-( I would also love to have a model of a Taunus.
