On The Road 2013 – Jabbeke, Belgium – International civil vehicle model show

Last weekend I went to the international civil vehicle model show “On The Road” in Jabbeke, Belgium.

It was a great opportunity to personally meet lots of great model builders that I have only seen online until now. Many of them were present with their own scale models, others came as visitors.

 

The organizers

This events is organized by the the Civil Vehicle Modellers Club “On The Road” from Jabbeke. This guys have been organizing this event for many years now and in the meanwhile it became one of the biggest civil vehicle model shows in Europe, attracting people from all over Europe.

The members of the club (organizer of this event) are very friendly and helpful and they do a great job organizing this show. They offer a warm meal for visitors for a very fair price and many different cakes to enjoy with your coffee.

 

The Location

The show is now taking place in a new location, a very modern and brand new free time and sport center. The building is great, with a great cafeteria and a huge hall with excellent lighting and of course acclimatized.

A very cool thing about this location is the cafeteria. You can drink your coffee enjoying a great view over the whole hall where the show is taking place.

The only issue with this location is the parking space. Nowadays no parking lot seems to be big enough. Get there early or try sharing your car with other people from your area

 

 

The exhibitors

The exhibitors come from all around Europe: Belgium, The Netherlands, Germany, France, among others. You’ll meet many of the best model builders in Europe there. There is also a big area reserved for merchants offering really almost everything you need from tools to materials and beside all new kits, also lots of vintage and very rare kits. You’ll also find resine kits, etched model parts

 

The scale models

Last but not least, the scale models. As the name of the show already reveals it’s all about vehicles. You’ll find any kind of machine with wheels underneath: modern and classic cars, customs, hot rods, rat rods, pickups, trucks, motorcycles, tractors, constructions machines, cranes etc and also radio controlled vehicles (trucks and machines), located in a special area of the show.

You can also participate in the modeling contest. There are many categories organized by truck brands, european and american cars, diormas, etc and of course prices to be won!
