Grandpa’s junkyard [1]

February 25, 2011

Our grandpa used to have a junkyard. We grew up in the big city and every winter and summer holiday we used to visit him and spend the whole time playing around in the junkyard.

The car you see here is a 1969 Ford Fairlane 500. We used to play in that car and also removed many parts of it for our collection at home.

During one of my last visits to the junkyard, I made an intensive photo shooting session of the whole junkyard using a great old-school nikon camera. A few weeks ago, as we decided to start this blog, I went to my old photo negatives archive and I found all the junkyard’s pictures that I’ll be sharing with you in this blog.

Reminds me of the junkyards I used to visit when they still existed. Alot of great memories just walking around and peering into those old relics.

Yes, reminds me of the great car wrecker yards my bro and I used to visit in the 80’s after I got my first car. One of my favorite places had been open from the 50’s and still had some remains of the first cars towed in, it was a a great place to spend most of the day wondering and come to the cash desk with one switch ! All gone now with houses built on the site. I have many pictures of piles of cars too !

I look forward to seeing Grandpa’s junkyard pictures.

Thank you guys for your feedback! We feel the same about junkyards. It’s just great to visit them take pictures, buy a few old parts. Just great!

Hello…not sure if you have them, but since I haven’t had any luck and came across your website, I thought I would ask. I am restoring a 1969 Ford Fairlane 500. I’m looking for both hood hinges with springs. Do you possibly have them and if so would you be willing to sell them? The car came with the wrong size hood hinges and therefore the back of the hood sits approx. 1 1/2″ too high, which makes the whole hood sit wrong. Please let me know at your earliest convenience.
Thanks, Bill – 518-366-9962
