’64 Chevy Pickup Fleetside – Revell kit – bed fenders [2]

January 31, 2014

Here is the second step of improving this ’64 Chevy Pickup kit from Revell.

After checking many pictures of the real thing online, I decided I had to improve the bed fenders as well. The original bed looked too toyish to me.

The pics speak for themselves. A very easy process with a huge visual improvement. I first cut the fender interior, then cut the fenders from the bed. I had to make the bed and the wheelhouse 1 mm wither on each side to look like the real thing and in order to reach the fender.

I placed a 1 mm thick styrene sheet between the bed and the fender and glued everything back in place. Now it looks like the real thing.

Hi guys, got a question, oh first great job on the Fleetside, in your travels have you ever seen a 1948 Chevy. There is company that has two 48 models, like you I’d like to have at least one door open, but I can’t find a picture of the door open. If you have seen a 48 you know part of the front fender opens as part of the door. Have you ever seen one open? The Chevy 48 was my father’s favorite car, he had one when I was born. I’d like to build one in his memory, and I will but, would like to have open door. Thanks for the Ees keep them coming, Montag
