The Colony Hotel in Miami is one of the most photographed buildings in the Deco district and in Miami in general. The Colony Hotel is not only iconic for it’s design but also for it’s color scheme.
On this video you’ll see the process of painting this facade in the right colors. I used acrylic artist colors. I first painted 3 layers of white and the 2 or 3 layers of each color. I can not tell you the exact name or composition of the colors as I mix them myself using pictures as a guide.
The sign letters are cut by hand (as everything in this project) and painted using a flat black spray.
There are still many details to be done here so stay tuned for the next post with the final steps and details.

Hello Seb!
The Colony facade is coming right along! I’m very interested in the actual windows that you will be making. Slide glass?
Also, your colors on the facade are very nice. I think the only difference between your choice and the actual buildings, might be just a couple layers(or years) of dust!!
Keep up the excellent work,
Drew
Hey Drew, thanks for the feedback! I thought about weathering the facade but it looks just so “clean” that I feel it’s a shame to weather it.
Take care
