Fribourg Classic Car Market

April 5, 2013

About two week ago, I decided to visit a Classic Car Market in Switzerland with a friend. Although I don’t live close to Fribourg (and I wasn’t looking to buy any classic car), it was definitely worth the visit! All the “usual suspects” were there, so I would like to dedicate some pics to the rather unusual cars – at least here. First of all, the title pic: a Dodge Truck. I must be 1954 to 1956, but I can’t tell for sure as there wasn’t any sign close to it.

This one above is what most of us would call “exotic”. Not so much for its shape, but mostly because you won’t see many of them on the street. It is a Monteverdi 375 S Berlinetta. It was built from 1969 to 1973 and was powered with a V8 from Chrysler with 7.2 Liters or 440 cubic inches. Monteverdi was a Swiss manufacturer of luxury sport cars and was based close to the city of Basel in Switzerland. The founder, Peter Monteverdi, started working at his Dad’s repair shop, specialized in Ferrari, BMW and Lancia. He started production of his own cars by 1967. After some interesting cars (including what we now call SUV, based on the International Harvester Scout) they closed production by 1984.

I love this Volvo! When you think of Volvo, specially station wagons, you think of massive, rather square cars. And while this car isn’t really small or “delicate”, it has some nice rounding here and there – specially the front, with this rather elegant grille. This is a Volvo 145 from the 70’s – I guess something like 1972 or 1973.

Well, this isn’t something different. But I just couldn’t resist! As I’ve told you already many times, this is one of my favorites cars! One of the three cars I can’t decide from I was going to buy one. The Ford Mustang! I love the early Mustangs (pre 1968). I specially like this Fastback: the rims are just great and the auxiliary lights on the front! Dream on!

Hey Andrew!

It is really cool, we get to see some cool rides here! Some times, during Summer, while wakling down the street, I have the impression of walking around a museum or so. Really cool!
