Fireball Roberts 56 Fairlane Sunliner

August 5, 2012

You may know that I had a little accident with the paint of the 57 Chevy Black Widow. So, I decided to move on with the 56 Sunliner driven by Glenn Fireball Roberts.

As you can see on the title pic, I painted the body as well as most of the parts. I fitted the body with the interior and the chassis.

The roll bar is scratch built and has the characteristic look of the car driven by Glenn Fireball Roberts. Note that bar has corners – instead of being round.

To make the paint look better, I first sanded down the imperfections. The hood had a little bit of orange skin. Note how the right side has no brightness.

After polishing the sanded area, the paint regained brightness and is now better than before. I used a polishing compound by tamiya – but be careful. If the paint isn’t thick enough, you will sand through it.
