Here is the second part of Wiking’s Hanomag K55 crawler tractor in 1/25 scale. This time I’m adding more detail to the front grill.
First of all i had to cut the gas tank, hood and front grill in separate pieces as they were molded all together in one piece. Soon after starting cutting and shaping the model i realized that the plastic is very rigid and therefore breaks easily. Is not as flexible as the styrene used on traditional model kits (this is not kit! maybe they use a different plastic for this kind of “toys”… I don’t know)
The plastic is also very thick so I soon realized that it was not a good idea to cut each section of the front grill open and decided to cut the whole grill open after molding it on aluminum sheet.
Have a look at the video and the pics below for more details, enjoy!

Great work. This site is fantastic. I’m new to this site, thanks for advertising in S.A.E.
Now the big question… Who do I have to slap to get one of these Tractors? I need one of these.
Hi Mark, you have to google for “Wiking Hanomag K55 1/25 scale”, search in ebay, amazon or your local scale model store. They are still available and are quite cheap (15 to 20 US-dollars). It’s a very basic model but it has lots of potential, as you’ve seen here. Enjoy!
