A few old jewels I found here and there many years ago

March 7, 2012

Back in the 80’s I used to carry a camera with me all the time always hoping to spot a classic car. Remember there was no internet back the, so if you wanted to have pictures of classic cars there were only few possibilities: buying books and magazines or taking pictures.

With my new scanner now I’m able to digitalize all my negatives and can now share this old pictures with you.

1938 Chevrolet 4 door – junk car

This pictures, specially the detail pictures, are great examples for detailing a model car. Look at the seats and the ceiling. It looks great.

I don’t know what happened with the camera (or with me) that day but most of the pictures are unsharp. :-(

It’s more than 15 years ago. Thank god, in the meanwhile I learned to take better pictures and the digital cameras are also better.

1948 Mercury Coupe

Again, it was one great road trip with my uncle across the south of Argentina where we found this cool ’48 Mercury coupe. The pictures are  very bad :-( I’m sorry for that. Anyway I thought it was cool to share it with you.

1948 Plymouth

It was not so much left of this Plymouth. I remember I could at least salvage a few chromed parts such as the radio and the trunk emblem. The ’48 Plymouth is a very cool car, but it was nothing else to be done with this one.

1958 Edsel

An Edsel is a quite rare car in Argentina. I was lucky to be able to spot this car back then.

Again guys, sorry for the bad quality of the pictures! In the meanwhile I have a new camera. There are not so many bad pictures anymore. Promise!

1959 Ford Country Squire Station Wagon

It was no so much left out of this 59 Ford Station Wagon. It has definitely seen better days as a hot rod!

1956 Chevy Bel Air

Last but not least, I found this Chevy on a trip I made to Miami many years ago. I remember this 56 Chevy Bel Air being somewhere in the suburbs of Miami.

It was solid and sure a very good basis for a project in whatever direction… My luggage and my budget was back then just to small to take it back to Germany with me. Next time!

Hello! Very nice pictures.
Could you tell me in exactly which part from Argentina do you saw the Edsel? I’m not from there but have a friend who is from Argentina and owns an Edsel, I’m sure he will be very happy to see your photos andmaybe look for this one, maye its still there.
Thanks!

Hey Roberto,

that picture is surely more than 15 years old – so my guess is that the Edsel isn’t there anymore. Anyhow, that picture is made on the road 2, in the Province Buenos Aires in the area of “Villa Elisa”. This road is also known as “Camino General Belgrano”.
