1957 Chevrolet Bel Air [2] – Further Progress

January 2, 2011

by Seb Perez

I kept on working on the 1957 Chevrolet. On this video you can see some more scratch built details, such as the inside of the hood, which was almost completely built on plastic. The bolts holding the rear suspension to the differential and rear axle were pretty unclean on the original model, so I made them again using wire and a piece of a metal plate.

The firewall was more than just “plain and simple”, it was not even close to the real thing. I used a picture of the real firewall to scratch build it. The rims have been improved too – I made the holes for the bolts on the custom built brake drum to hold the wheels. The front suspension has been re-built to make it fully functional.

We are keeping track of this work to make an advanced tutorial – focused on scratch building and super realistic model car building.

Again you Guy’s are doing a Great job, your really bringing this Minature to Life, but one thing, please don’t forget to make the Grill Screen have some Gold tone to it, every body alway’s forgets to make the Bel-Air with a Gold Screen, the other Chevies were Silver.
Thanks for the update!

I’m late to this party, but fantastic build!! What’s the song being played during the vid? The music goes great with the car, the hobby, and the outstanding craftsmanship!

Hi Rob, I can’t remember where I got the music from. Thanks for the feedback! Check this post to see the finished project.
