1957 Chevrolet Bel Air [1] – High Detail

December 4, 2010

This build is based on a pretty old kit from ESCI – ERTL. Although the scale of 1/16 is pretty big, this model doesn’t have much details out of the box. So I had to do a lot of scratch building to make many things by myself so the model would look more realistic.

This video features scratch built valves and scratch built pistons for the engine. It also shows the custom made working windows and leaning seats. The video speaks for itself, check it out!

I just recreated the original system in scale using small wire pieces.

Hey nice work.
How can you make something like that?
Also the 1:16 scale is very rare..
It would be cool to start making model cars that you can’t buy. I want a Mercedes Benz S-Class S500 W220. So If you have the blueprint can you make this or what is your secret. Sorry for English Im German.

Hi Marian, the ’57 Chevy is available as a kit in 1:16 scale. I have no idea if the Mercedes that you’re looking for is available as a 1:16 kit. I normally do not build entire model cars from scratch, so I’m sorry, I can’t help you with that
